Hockey Goal Light is an application that turns your iOS device into a light board displaying the hockey statistics for tonight’s game. It also turns your device into an alarm clock in case you’re late for the game due to traffic or weather delays. Finally, it can be used as a remote control to switch your TV’s volume or mute it altogether if you’re watching from another room.
In order to use the app, you will need an Apple TV, an iOS device (such as an iPhone or iPad), and a widescreen TV with HDMI connection and internet access. You’ll also need to set up an account with HockeyApp, an online storage area for mobile applications.
How Do I Use Hockey Goal Light?
When you first launch the app, you will see a prompt to allow access to your Apple TV. Once this is done, you will be able to select which hockey game you would like to see the stats for. What About Non-NHL Football And Baseball?
If you’re interested in seeing stats for American football or baseball games, then you may have to switch over to an app called NFL Stats. The same goes for the NBA, and even the WNBA. However, the support for those leagues is much more limited, and it won’t provide the full experience of watching hockey.
Fortunately, there is an app called Stats for Everything that provides similar functionality for sports other than hockey. So you won’t be losing any functionality by choosing to watch hockey with the Hockey Goal Light app.
How Many Goals Scored/Time Left For The Game?
As of the time of writing, the Hockey Goal Light app is configured to show the following:
- 3 minute and 20 second rule (NHL only)
- 5 on 5 Overtime (NHL only)
- Game Clock (default) for NHL games
- Half Time for NFL games
- 5th Goal for Australian Football (AFL)
- Goal Down for Soccer (MLS)
- Game Over for Basketball (NBA, WNBA)
Once the game has ended, you will see the following displayed on your TV:
- Number of goals scored
- Number of goals scored by each team
- Number of assists
- Number of power play goals
- Number of shorthanded goals
- Man of the match
As mentioned above, the app also has a time limit built in, which will count down the number of goals scored. Once this timer reaches zero, the puck will disappear from the screen and the app will exit.
When Do I Need To Set My Apple TV Up As A Home Assistant?
If you’ve never used an Apple TV as a home assistant, then you may want to set it up at least a couple of hours before you plan on using it. This way, you can ensure that everything is done correctly and that the device is set up the way you want it. You can also use this time to test out any extra features the Apple TV may offer (such as Amazon Prime Video, which you can access directly from the device).
How Do I Mute The TV If I’m Watching From Another Room?
If you’re watching TV from another room, then you may want to mute it altogether. You can use the Apple remote to switch the input to the speakers, and then use the TV’s volume control to adjust the sound. Alternatively, you can use the AirPlay feature provided by newer versions of iOS to send the audio in the room to another speaker. Either way, you shouldn’t have any issues controlling the volume.

What About Netflix, Hulu, And Amazon Prime Video?
If you have an Apple TV, then you have access to a world of films and TV shows available for streaming. You can use the app Store on your Apple TV to browse through apps and games or to stream video content directly from Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, or Netflix. You can download all three of these apps for free from the App Store.
Once you have all three of these apps installed on your Apple TV, you can access their content using one of the two methods described below.
Using The App Store On My Apple TV
If you have an Apple TV, then you can use the App Store to browse through apps and games or to stream video content directly from Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, or Netflix. You can download all three of these apps for free from the App Store.
To use the App Store on your Apple TV, simply touch the screen on the device to open it up. From here, you can browse through all of the available apps or search for the specific content you want to watch. If you find something you like, then you can download it directly to your device or TV using the Share button. This button is located at the top of the screen, and it has a blue arrow pointing down. Once the download is complete, the content will be available to watch whenever you want using the supported services.
Using the App Store on your Apple TV is the simplest way to get access to all of the content supported by the platform. However, if you already have the other two apps installed on your device, then you can use those to access content from Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu as well. Simply touch the app on your device and you will be taken to the content available from the supported platform. If you want to download content from all four services, then you can use the Apple TV to browse through all of the available films and TV shows and choose which ones to download. To do this, go into the App Store on your Apple TV and click on the icon for Purchases. From here, you can see a list of all of the content you’ve downloaded.
Using A Game Controller
If you have another device that you use to control your TV (for example, a PlayStation or Xbox controller), then you can use it to navigate the content on your Apple TV. First, you will need to pair the device with your Apple TV using the Bluetooth feature on the device. Then, to access the content, just put the gamepad in connection with the Apple TV and choose which input to use (gamepad, keyboard, or remote control).
