How Heavy Is Hockey Gear? [Solved!]

Spread the love

Being a hockey player comes with its perks; you get to sport some beautiful and colourful gear that you probably won’t ever have to wash. However, the downside to this hobby is that your clothing and equipment might not be as well suited for all activities as they could be. If you’re looking for a more versatile sport, try searching for mountain bike gear or kayak packing lists.

Hockey Gear Is Heavier Than You’d Think

In the world of sports equipment, hockey is a really big deal. Many people consider it to be the king of sports when it comes to equipment requirements. The truth is that most people don’t give much thought to the weight of the gear they use while playing ice hockey. It’s an easy thing to just assume that pads, helmets, and jerseys weigh nothing.

The fact is that all of these items weigh a lot. For example, adult size hockey pads weigh around five to six kg (11 to 13 lbs), adult size helmets weigh around two to three kg (4 to 6 lbs), and a fully garbed adult weight hockey player weighs around 10 to 12 kg (22 to 26 lbs).

That’s a lot of weight to be carrying around everywhere you go. It’s no wonder that some people refer to hockey players as “ice weights.” One thing to keep in mind is that the more you wear, the heavier you’ll become. It’s a constant battle to lose weight as a hockey player because whenever you’re out on the ice, you’re not just playing the game, you’re also trying to stay in shape.

Hockey Is A Power Game

Being a hockey player obviously comes with its perks. You get to sport some beautiful and colourful gear that you probably won’t ever have to wash. However, the downside to this hobby is that your clothing and equipment might not be as well suited for all activities as they could be. If you’re looking for a more versatile sport, try searching for mountain bike gear or kayak packing lists.

Hockey is a power game. The faster you skate, the more you weigh. This is because your body works as a piston, pushing the ice in front of you as you go. The faster you go, the more you’ll weigh. This is also partly why hockey players are usually bigger than the average person. They need to be to keep up with the pace of the game.

Another reason why hockey is a powerful game is because the gear you need to play it isn’t light either. You’ll need the right skates, a puck, a helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and a pair of pants. Let’s not forget about the gloves either, which can weigh up to a kg (2 lbs). All of this combined weighs a lot. It’s no wonder that hockey is known as the “hardest” sport to play. You have to be strong enough to withstand all the hitting that comes with the game.

Shaving

The other day, I was brushing my teeth and I found myself wondering if there’s any way I could reduce the weight of my mouthwash canisters. It took me a while to figure out how much the fluid in my mouthwash cans weighs. It’s not an easy task to find the exact weight of the can because you never know what size you need. I’m sure there are different ways to measure it, but for the sake of this example, I’ll use my normal can.

The thing is that when you go to the dentist, you have to shave. When they give you the swish, tap, or spray, you have to use some sort of tool to scrape off a bit of the foam. I found that most of the weight comes from the swish, tap, or spray portion of the can, which is around 7.5g (0.25 oz). The tool itself doesn’t weigh much, but it makes a difference. It feels like a tiny bit of lead in your stomach, but it makes a difference.

Jogging

Jogging is another sport that’s known to make you more bulky. It’s basically running outdoors, which makes it a lot more fun. The air feels good, the scenery is breath-taking, and there’s nothing quite like the sound of the wind in your hair as you jog along. The problem is that after about ten to fifteen minutes of jogging, you’ll start to feel a little tired, the air starts getting a little bit cold, and you have to find a way to keep moving. When you do find a way to keep moving, you’ll most likely end up doing it more because you want to stay in shape than because you actually enjoy doing it.

During my time off work, I’ve gone on runs in the countryside, along the beach, and even on the city streets. The interesting thing is that not only does jogging make you more bulked up, it also changes the way your clothes fit you. This is because the faster you jog, the more energy you have, which means your legs have to move around more. If you want to jog comfortably, you have to be ready to adjust your clothing sizes as you go.

Kayaking

Kayaking is another sport that has a lot of gear and clothing requirements. You’ll need a kayak, a kayak bag, a helmet, a life jacket, a paddle, plus whatever else you can think of that might be necessary. When you’re kayaking, your arms will be working hard to keep the kayak steady in the water. If you want to do some kayaking with your family and friends, you’ll need to think about getting a kayak loan. Otherwise, you’ll have to pick one up yourself once you arrive at your destination. Once you do have one, you’ll need to learn how to paddle properly. This is especially important if you’re on a small lake or pond because it’s easy for things to go wrong, especially if you’re not used to operating a kayak.

Incorporating more activities into your regime means you’ll have to be carrying around more gear. This can become burdensome, which is why it’s a good idea to get rid of the excess weight. There are ways to reduce the weight of your possessions, such as storing your kayaks inside an RV (recreational vehicle), which is what I did when I was a kid. Storing your kayaks inside an RV is usually the best way to go because not only do you get the freedom to move around where you want to, but you also don’t have to worry about carrying all that extra weight. When you’re driving down the road, you’ll feel like a bear with a sore back. However, the pain is well worth it.

I’m sure there are different ways to measure the heaviness of hockey gear and other sports equipment, but for the sake of this story, let’s use my mouthwash can as a benchmark.

After shaving, the next step is to rinse your mouth with water. If you’re really concerned about your teeth, you might opt for a peptic-based mouthwash instead of an alkaline-based one. If you’re really short on time, you might want to skip the rinsing step and go straight for the drying of your mouth. There are also various ways to speed up this process, such as using an electric toothbrush or a heat lamp. It’s not always easy to find the right gear for the job, but with a little bit of research, you’ll certainly find what you’re looking for. Just remember, the lighter, the better because you’ll have more energy when playing your sport. This is just a small fraction of the sports equipment you might need. Make a list of all the items you think you might need and then prioritize it. This way, you’ll make a more informed decision about which items to purchase. It’s also a good idea to ask for assistance from other players or experts in your sport. They might have some advice for you.
