As a hockey enthusiast, I have always been fascinated by the incredible amount of discipline and dedication that goes into playing this sport at a college level. But what really intrigues me is how much things have changed over time – new teams, new rules, new challenges.

In fact, when it comes to Division 1 Hockey teams in the United States alone, the numbers have increased significantly in recent years. Back in the late 90s for instance there were only around 54 varsities fielding ice hockey squads but now we see closer to 60-62 programs battling on an icy rink across America with competitors including private colleges like Harvard University and public state universities such as The Ohio State University

“It’s amazing to see how far collegiate sports has come, ” said Ann Stautz from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The NCAA is responsible for organizing intercollegiate athletics throughout North America and as such they keep close tabs on the growth of various sports including hockey. In fact some notable additions include Arizona State University who joined D-I men’s team play back in 2015 having previously competed at club level

But while more schools are getting involved in Division I hockey each year, one thing remains unchanged: every game is still incredibly intense and competitive. With so many top-level players coming together from different backgrounds there will always be unforeseen element contributing to any outcome thus offering its own unique challenge which makes watching games all that more thrilling

All these factors ensure that playing at this level takes true grit and dedication. And as for us spectators? We get to sit back and enjoy some seriously impressive sportsmanship.
