The Classic Jersey
If you’ve ever watched a hockey game, you’ll know that the classic jersey is the one that the players wear. It’s colorful and has the team’s name and logo on the front. Typically, the jerseys of the older generations were white and had larger patches on the front in commemoration of the founding fathers of hockey. These days, however, they’re more of a unisex gray.
It wasn’t always like this. Back in the day, the classic jersey was most popular with men and the colors were typically red, white and blue. It wasn’t until the 1940s and 1950s that the unisex gray version became the norm. Since then, the classic jersey has mostly stayed the same although there have been some variations. For example, New York Rangers fans might remember seeing a lot of white and red jerseys due to the team’s historic rivalry with the Boston Bruins. Aside from the colors, the design hasn’t changed much either. Today, the logo on the front of the jersey is usually located above the left pocket.
The Vintage Jersey
The vintage jersey has all of the charm of the classic one, but with the addition of some modern twists. These are the jerseys that the players wear when they want to bring back the retro look of the 1950s and 1960s. Typically, the name and logo of the team are stitched on the front in a vintage style. However, the look can vary from one team to another. Some players might choose to have the sleeves shortened while others might want to keep them long. There is also a wide range of colors that you can choose from when ordering a vintage jersey. Most of these were born in the 1960s and they’re the mainstay of the hippie subculture.
Even though there are plenty of trendy outfits that you can buy for men and women, old and young, it’s important to keep in mind that not all of them will be suitable for the hockey game. The key is to find an authentic vintage jersey that will look great and feel great even when you’re sweating heavily during a game. If you don’t mind paying a bit more for this type of outfit, it’s well worth it. Most hockey players of the 1960s and 1970s wore them during their playing days and still wear them today especially since they represent nostalgia.
The Vintage Classic Jersey
The vintage classic jersey is almost like the vintage one, but with the addition of a collar. The logo and the name of the team are stitched straight onto the front of the collar. When you put on the collar, it will be obvious that this is a vintage style. However, the look can vary from one team to another. For example, the Detroit Red Wings wear their collarless versions more often than their collarbedecked ones. Aside from the collar, it’s the same as the vintage one. Typically, they were worn by coaches, executives and legends of the sport during their playing days and still are today.
Just because the season has started doesn’t mean you have to rush out and buy a hockey jersey. There are several styles and colors available that you can choose from, depending on what you prefer. Remember, you’ll need a size large enough to fit you when you shrink due to the cold. Otherwise, you’re going to be very uncomfortable during the game. Aside from looks, feel is also very important and you must feel like you’re wearing the right gear when playing. Only then will you feel like you’re ready to take on the world. And remember, practice makes perfect!
