How To Bake Ccm Hockey Skates? [Expert Guide!]

Sharing is Caring

I’ve always had a soft spot for anything hockey. Back in the day, the only thing that could get me out of the house on a snowy day was the glorious roar of an ice hockey game. Even now, when the temperature outside is more suitable for crocheting than hockey, I find myself daydreaming about the glorious game. Unfortunately, unlike my childhood, I no longer have the luxury of attending games live. But that doesn’t mean I cannot live vicariously through my friends’ live blogs.

So, when I saw a tweet from Cake Boss Paulie Walnuts asking if anyone knew how to bake hockey skates, my heart jumped. Sure, I can make a mean green salad, but how about a sweet treat that pays homage to my favorite sport? And what would be cooler than creating a cake specifically designed for a sports team?

As a hockey nut myself, I was immediately inspired to try my hand at a cake for the New York Islanders. The team had just retired my former franchise’s number (9), which they had worn proudly for years. So it only made since that I should bake them a cake to celebrate. Before I knew it, I found myself flipping through my cookbook to see what I could come up with. Naturally, it had to be a three-layered cake, with a chocolate or vanilla cake layer, sandwiched between two cream cheese frostings (one chocolate, one vanilla). Of course, the icing had to be shaped like a hockey stick!

The Results

After what seemed like an eternity (but was probably only a few hours), I had a finished product. Not only was it exactly what I was looking for, but it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. Not only did I have all the necessary equipment in my kitchen, but I had everything I needed for the cake portion right there on my workbench. So, without further ado, here is the recipe. I hope you enjoy it, and your friends will, too.

How To Bake A Cake For The New York Islanders

This is a pretty straightforward recipe, which you can find online or in any cookbook. You will need three 6-inch cake pans, and three 4-inch spring-form pans. You will also need to acquire a sheet of ice cream or cake pop molds, as well as a pair of ice cream scoopers. Of course, you will need to purchase a bottle of liquor to go along with the cake.

To start, you will need to prepare your cake layers. In this case, you will want three 6-inch cake layers, with one cake layer sandwiched between two layers of cake pops, or ice cream. Make sure to grease your cake pans well, and line the bottoms of the pans with parchment paper. Next, you will want to cream your butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add your eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Once all your eggs are in, add your vanilla and continue mixing for another 10-15 minutes, or until your butter and sugar are completely incorporated into your eggs.

Once your cake is ready, you can decorate it with whatever you like. In my case, I chose to stack my cake layers on top of one another, and then cut each layer in half diagonally. This gave me a total of 12 triangles, which is the perfect size for the New York Islanders’ logo.
