How To Lace A Hockey Net? [Solved!]

Sharing is Caring

Every ice hockey player wishes his/her hockey stick would magically change into a pair of skates when he/she picked it up. It’s not a dream, it’s a reality! All you need is ice hockey laces, also known as hockey sticks, and a bit of patience to learn how to lace a hockey net properly. After all, we want our stick game to represent our skill level and athletic prowess, right?

There are 3 simple steps to follow so you can master the art of lacing a hockey net.

Decoration

Whether you’re playing on an outdoor or indoor ice rink, you need to add that extra touch of authenticity with some decorations. Of course you don’t need to go overboard and spray paint the entire ice surface to make it look like an old bowling alley, but a simple craft project such as this is enough to add that extra touch of realism.

Nylon Straps

You need to use some nylon webbing or bungee cords to attach the top of the net to the poles. The more you pull it tight, the less likely it is the poles will come loose during play. It’s a good idea to duct-tape one end of the nylon strap to the ground so it can’t slide all over the place during gameplay.

Paddles

You don’t need to have paddles lying around your house, but it’s essential you have them at the place you practice. Without them, it will be quite difficult to stop the puck from going into the net. It doesn’t hurt to have a pair around either, in case one of your team mates drops the puck unintentionally.

Once you’ve followed these guidelines, you’ll be able to lace a hockey net in no time. Keep organized by downloading a hockey net lacing template from NHLGoalie.com so you can make sure you always use the correct measurements and instructions when building your own hockey net.
