How To Make A Hockey Puck In Minecraft? [Fact Checked!]

Sharing is Caring

Hockey is one of the most exciting sports to play in because it’s so fast-paced. You get the chance to play against other people, and in most cases, it’s a lot of fun. However, when it comes to actually making something in the game, it can be pretty daunting. That’s mainly because the building blocks in Minecraft are so basic, and there isn’t a lot of variation when it comes to the shapes. Thankfully, we’re here to help with 14 ways to make a hockey puck in Minecraft, so you can play like a pro without having to break the bank.

The Basics

If you’ve ever played hockey before, then you know that the rules are pretty basic. You can’t shoot at the puck, you have to hit it with a hockey stick, and the puck has to go in the net for a goal. So what would a hockey puck look like in Minecraft? It turns out, it’s not too hard to achieve. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to make a basic hockey puck in Minecraft. By following this guide, you’ll be able to achieve a smooth surface that’s been expertly finished to give it a realistic ice hockey appearance.

1. Get The Materials

One of the first things you’ll need to do is secure some ice cream scoops as the basis for your hockey puck. It doesn’t have to be just ice cream scoops, any type of ice cream cone or scoop will do. You could also use hard-boiled eggs or frozen grapes if you want to make some swoon worthy dessert pucks! You can get creative here and use whatever you can get your hands on, as long as it’s not too soft (like ice cream or whipped cream).

Aside from the basic scoops, you’ll also need to secure some wood blocks for the walls and a few larger blocks for the roof. Depending on how much detail you want to go into, you can choose different woods for the walls and the roof. For instance, you could use dark oak for the walls and light pine for the roof. Dark woods like these give the room a bit more character, and if you’re going for a realistic feel, then you might as well go all the way.

2. Create The Room

Once you’ve collected your materials, it’s time to create the room. Start by placing one of the ice cream scoops in the center of the room, with the flat side facing up. Do the same with the other ice cream scoops, placing them evenly around the room. Next, add the wood blocks around the edge of the room, making sure to leave at least two inches of empty space in between each block. When you’re done, stand back and admire your handiwork.

3. Add The Roof

The next step is to add the roof. To create the peaked roof, start by placing two of the larger wood blocks in the center of the room, with the long side facing up. Add two more blocks on either side, making sure to leave at least two inches of space between each block. Repeat this same process on the other two sides, but this time, leave a single block at the top as the cap piece. Make sure to keep all four sides equally weighted and topped with a single block.

4. Add The Walls

To create the walls, start by adding one of the smaller wood blocks along with a dirt block on either end. You then have to break it in half by placing a stone block between them, or leave them as is and add some paint to the dirt for a more seamless look.

What happens next is up to you. You could add a door to the room, or you could leave it as is and simply add a window to give it some light. Regardless, you’ll need to make sure that all surfaces are even and smooth before starting your next step.

5. Add The Grates

To create the grates, start by placing a wooden plank on either side of the room, with a hook placed on the back for hanging things on. You then have to add some stone slabs on either end, with a gap in between each slab. You could use a wooden plank as a bridge, or you could just skip this step and add the slabs directly on the ground, but if you want to create a more realistic effect, then you might want to use the plank as a means to add some height to the room.

6. Add More Material If Needed

Depending on how much detail you want to go into, you can always add more material to the room. You can use the same method described above to create additional walls or floors, as long as you make sure to add some bridge pieces to help create a more seamless transition. If you want, you can also add some wood or concrete for a more refined look or feel, respectively.

7. Add More Ice Cream Scoops

No list of things to make in Minecraft would be complete without including at least one more thing related to hockey. As we mentioned above, the materials for the puck are pretty basic, but there are so many different ways in which you can add variety to your collection. If you want, you can add additional ice cream scoop walls or flooring. So, in essence, you’d have a room with multiple walls and floors, all made out of ice cream scoops! For the sake of argument, let’s say you want to add another scoop wall. In this case, simply add another wooden plank to the room, make sure to leave at least two inches of space in between each plank. You can also add additional slabs between the planks, as needed, to create more height.

8. Add Some Cushions

Hockey is a rough sport, and it’s not uncommon for players to get injured. To add some comfort to the room, you can add some soft cushions, or you can use a bed or couch for the same purpose. The choice is up to you, but in either case, make sure to leave enough room for the players.

9. Paint The Room If Needed

If you decided to add more than one wall or floor to the room, you might want to give it a quick coat of paint. Just because it’s wooden doesn’t mean that it has to look like a rough draft, as long as you mask the imperfections with a coat of paint, you’ll be good to go.

10. Make Sure The Room Is Level

It’s important to make sure that the room is level. To do this, simply take a step back and measure the space. If you decide that you want to add another scoop wall, then simply level off the first one by adding another plank. You could also use a spirit level to make sure everything is vertical. If you want, you can also use blocks, sand, or gravel to level the room. Just make sure that all surfaces are even in height before starting your next step.

11. Add Another Door

If you decided to include a door in the room, then you have to make sure that it’s placed somewhere inconspicuous so that it doesn’t take the focus away from the hockey. In most cases, you’ll want a simple wooden door with no glass. What you do next depends on whether you used the same method to create the room or not. If you did, then you’ll need to extend the route by adding another door.

If you didn’t, then simply add another wooden plank and leave it at that. Make sure to add at least two inches of space in between each plank.

12. Start Adding More Details

Depending on how much detail you want to go into, you can start adding more details to the room. If you want, you can use the same method described above to create additional walls or floors, as long as you make sure to add some bridge pieces to help create a more seamless transition. If you want, you can also add some wood or concrete for a more refined look or feel, respectively.

13. Add More Lighting

Lighting is important in every aspect of life, including architecture, so it should come as no surprise that it’s important in creating a realistic looking indoor space as well. To add some lighting, you can simply use any lamp or candle and place them on the wooden planks. Do this on each side of the room for maximum visual effect. If necessary, you can also use torches placed near the ground to create more ambient light.
