If you grew up in the 90s, you’ll know just what kind of hockey equipment Canada went through in the winter. Gloves, scarves, and warm pants were just some of the items that were needed for the game. This winter sports equipment is still needed today, especially since it’s not always safe to go outside without risking frostbite.
The good old days of playing in the snow are long gone, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have some fun with pond hockey this winter. Nowadays it’s possible to get all of that gear, but it isn’t always easy to find the right size and color. That’s where we come in. In this article, we’ll teach you how to make a pond hockey goal. It’s quite simple and can be done with only a few accessories from home.

What You Need To Make A Pond Hockey Goal
As with most things in life, having the right tools makes it much easier to do any job. When it comes to making a pond hockey goal, you’ll need a couple of sticks (preferably about 3-4 feet long), a long thin branch (to poke the ball with), a few snowballs (for weight), and some string or rope to pull the puck in. All of these items can be found at a local store. You’ll also need some ice to play on, and since you’ll be working outside, you might as well bring a sleeping bag and mat along as well.
How To Play Pond Hockey
The first step in making a pond hockey goal is to choose the right location. You want to pick a frozen pond that’s not too far from your home. The deeper the ice, the easier it is to pull the puck in. Also, try to pick a pond that has at least four corners. That way, you’ll have at least four different shots at the puck.
The next step is to work on the ball. You’ll need to remove the air from it so that it becomes lighter. To do this, simply freeze the ball and beat it with a hockey stick. Squeezing the ball in your gloved hands will also help drive the air out. Once the ball is deflated, you can move on to the next step.
How To Assemble The Goal
In order to play with a hockey puck inside a circle, you’ll need to have a goal. When we talk about an assembling a hockey goal, we mean taking the strings or rope and connecting them to a central point. The best way to do this is to tie one end of the rope to a tree or a metal post and the other end to a wall. Once you’ve done this, you can use the post as a brace to hold the backboard in place. The backboard should be large enough so that no matter how hard you throw the puck, it won’t go beyond it. Finally, stretch the netting across the backboard so that it’s taut and won’t blow away in the wind.
You may also need to saw off some of the branch to make it fit better against the wall. Once you’ve done this, you can move onto the last step.
How To Test It
The last step is to test your hockey goal. Take a soccer ball and put it on the ground in front of the goal. Then, take a run at it with your hockey stick. If it works like it should, you can pat yourself on the back and call it a day. If it doesn’t quite work, you can come back and try again.
In all seriousness, making a pond hockey goal is a lot of fun and it can be quite rewarding. Just make sure that you have the proper tools and the right location. Then, all you need is some ice and some willing participants!
