How To Set Keepers In Yahoo Fantasy Hockey? [Solved!]

Sharing is Caring

Welcome to the yahoo fantasy hockey keeper section. This article is going to tell you everything you need to know about setting up your own fantasy hockey keeper, including how to correctly import your team from your fhstats.com account into yahoo fantasy hockey. It’s going to take a while to get everything configured correctly, but once you do, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to do this (or any other type of trading).

The Import Process

The first step to setting up a baseball, football, or hockey keeper is to import your team. You can do this by going to the main menu in yahoo fantasy hockey, clicking on the โ€œEdit Profileโ€ button, and then selecting โ€œImport Teamsโ€ from the drop-down menu. When you do this, you’ll be taken to a page where you can browse through and import all of the team sets that are available to you. Make sure you download and install the latest version of the Yahoo! fantasy hockey app before you start importing your teams, or else you may find that you cannot add them all. Once you’ve imported all of the teams that you want to keep, you can begin configuring them.

Configuring Your Teams

Now that you have all of your teams imported, you can begin configuring them on the fly. To do this, click on the โ€œSetupโ€ tab in the upper-right corner of the yahoo fantasy hockey window, and then click on the โ€œEditโ€ button next to any of the team sets that you’ve imported. This will pop up a window that allows you to configure the settings for that team. The first thing you should do is set the โ€œCategoryโ€ for each team. This is where you choose what position each player on your team will play. There are five catagories: goalie, left wing, centre, right wing, and defensive lineman. To set the category for your team, simply click on the โ€œAddโ€ button next to the position that you want to set and then select โ€œGoaltenderโ€ or โ€œDefenseโ€ from the drop-down menu. Once you’ve set the category for your team, you can begin configuring the other settings. To do this, click on the โ€œSetupโ€ tab once again and then move down to the โ€œGoalkeeperโ€ section. Here you can set the โ€œGoalkeeper Levelโ€ for each team. This setting defines how many shots a goalie must save to reach 100 points in a season. It also defines how many saves a goalie must make to reach 200 points in a season. You can set these values to whatever you want, but usually people use either the โ€œLowโ€ or โ€œHighโ€ setting for this option. For example, you might choose to have your goalies save on average 40-50 shots per game or 65-75 shots per game. Setting these values can help you determine how many shots your goalies are going to face and how many goals they are going to need in order to have a successful season.

The next setting that you need to alter in your team is the โ€œStarting Lineup.โ€ Here you can set the โ€œBench Warmersโ€ for each team. These are the additional players that the coach can bring in when your starter is placed on the bench. Typically you don’t need to alter these settings as often as you do the others, so it’s a good idea to leave them as they are. The only time that you might want to change them is if your starter consistently spends more than 40 minutes on the bench each game.

Altering Rosters

One of the most important things to do after you’ve configured all of your teams is to start altering them. You do this by going to the โ€œAlter Rostersโ€ tab using the โ€œEditโ€ button in the upper right corner of the yahoo fantasy hockey window. You’ll see that there are a variety of options here. For example, if you’ve set up your team with a goalie and five defencemen, you can click on the โ€œDefencemenโ€ option under the โ€œAlter Rostersโ€ tab and then click on the โ€œDposโ€ option. Doing this will alter the roster so that each defenceman now plays both sides of the puck. This makes them more versatile and increases their effectiveness. Another example would be to set up a team with a goalie and three defencemen, and then click on the โ€œGoaltenderโ€ option under the โ€œAlter Rostersโ€ tab to see if Yahoo! changes the settings for the goalie category. This is a common issue when people first use the app and don’t know how to properly import their teams from their fhstats.com account (or any other type of account for that matter). You can see an example of how setting the โ€œGoalkeeper Levelโ€ can affect the goalie settings in the image below:

As you can see from the image above, the default โ€œGoalkeeper Levelโ€ for my team is set to โ€œLow.โ€ If I change it to โ€œHigh,โ€ then the other settings (i.e. saves and shots faced) change accordingly. This is because when you change the โ€œGoalkeeper Levelโ€ setting, the database checks for goalkeepers and sees that I’ve set it to โ€œHigh,โ€ and so it changes all of the settings (saves, shots faced, wins, etc.) accordingly.

Fhstats.com Account Import

If you’re not using a yahoo account for your fantasy hockey, you’ll need to import your team from your fhstats.com account. In order to do this, go to the main menu in yahoo fantasy hockey, click on the โ€œEdit Profileโ€ button, and then select โ€œImport Teamsโ€ from the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner. You’ll then be taken to a page where you can browse through and select the fhstats.com team sets that you want to keep. After you’ve selected the fhstats.com account teams you want to keep, click on the โ€œNextโ€ button to continue to the configuration page for those teams.

Trading

Once you’ve set up your fantasy hockey keeper, you can start entering trades. To do this, go back to the main menu in yahoo fantasy hockey and click on the โ€œTradeโ€ tab in the upper-right corner. Then you can either search for players using the โ€œTypeโ€ option and then either browse through available players or create a new user-defined list using the โ€œMy Tradesโ€ button. If you’ve set up your team with the โ€œImport Teamsโ€ feature, you’ll see all of the players that you’ve imported already listed under โ€œPlayers.โ€ Simply click on the player’s name to begin trading with them.

If you’ve set up your team using the โ€œSetupโ€ tab, then all of the players that you’ve imported will be listed there under โ€œImported Players.โ€ Simply click on the name of one of these players to begin trading with them. If you’ve set up your team using either the โ€œAlter Rostersโ€ or โ€œEdit Profileโ€ features then you’ll see all of the players that you’ve imported along with the other options for that tab (e.g. goalies, defenesmen, etc.). Simply click on the player’s name to begin trading with them.

Once you’ve entered your first trade, you’ll see a confirmation page that will list all of the players that you’ve traded with along with the quantities (i.e. how many of each player you’ve traded with). Make sure to keep all of these details as you’ll need them in the following steps.

Points, Wins, And More

After you’ve set up your team in all of the ways discussed above, you can start checking the box next to the relevant stats that you want to track (i.e. points, wins, etc.). To do this, go back to the main menu in yahoo fantasy hockey and click on the โ€œResultsโ€ tab in the upper-right corner. Here you can set the categories for the stats that you’re tracking (e.g. points for goalies, wins for goalies, etc.). Simply click on the box next to the stat that you want to set and then select the category from the drop-down menu.
