Finally, there is the Director of Hockey Administration (“Dir of Admin”), who is responsible for creating and maintaining the team’s administrative database, processing payroll, and handling other administrative tasks.

Responsibilities Of The Director Of Hockey Operations

The day-to-day activities of the coach are delegated to assistants, who work either directly for the coach or for the Director. The Director also works with the general manager to shape the team’s strategic direction. Together, these two groups are responsible for creating and maintaining the team’s operational plans, identifying necessary budgeted expenses, creating and analyzing game day and season planning schedules, and so much more.
As mentioned, the Director is in charge of coordinating all aspects of the organization. In order to achieve that, he must be actively involved in the creation of the game day and practice schedules, as well as the dissemination of information pertaining to the game itself. In addition, the Director must oversee the work of all employees, creating and maintaining team relations, and creating an environment where everyone can feel comfortable bringing their best performance.
In summary, the Director of Hockey Operations is responsible for ensuring that all facets of the team operate at their highest efficiency and that every detail is accounted for. In doing so, the Director must be actively involved in every aspect of the organization.
